I made a 2cmx2cm view finder and sectioned of an area of the collage featured in the previous post. I then enlarged the area x10 in my sketchbook and created a mixed media (collage, pencil, pen and oil pastel) study of it. I really liked the process and outcome of this exercise, mostly because it gave me an opportunity to develop my existing ideas and in turn allowed me to create a strong, graphic piece.

Experimenting with frames: 4
This is a much busier frame, depicting more detail. It definitely has an earthier feel, coming across as more of a study than anything else.
Experimenting with frames: 3
This frame has a darker feel to it. Perhaps this is due to ghostly marks inhabiting most of the space, with a dark section of the tree stump creeping in from the left.
Experimenting with frames: 1
This exercise of cutting out and framing parts of the original image was used for me to try and create different moods and narratives from the same image. Here emphasis is placed on the base of the stump.
Drawing of memory photo
This is an unfinished drawing I done of the previous image I posted. I drew this to bring my attention the details in the photo that I initially missed.
