Metamorphosis: Title Card

Title card development

Photo is authors own

I really enjoyed this part of the project as I was able to focus my attention on what the animation was all about and try to portray that in one still image. I was working with the idea of foreshadowing, and how I could use that term literally. I worked with a few different view points and also thought about how I could produce visual meaning behind the shadow cast by Gregory as he prepares to get into bed. The last image on the page seen above is my final design, which I believe to be effective. The large shadow cast by Gregory creates a daunting atmosphere, as it haunts the space, towering over him. I included a mouth on the shadow to suggest it being a separate entity, although a part of Gregory, just as death will be.

Rastman Final Image: 2

This image depicts the second stage of my story, where the Doll feels for Rastaman and decides to present him with a flyer advertising the Path to Enlightenment. It is a over the shoulder view however, some of my peers did not at first understand this concept and mistook his head for something else. I found it quite hard to create a high level of drama in this scene as the props are was working with were quite mundane. Although, by creating blurred areas I was able to highlight the main message of the image, which in turn uplifted the drama, I feel.

Final Rastaman 6 Film Stills

These 6 images are my final visual embodiments of the Rastaman story I presented in my sketch book in my previous post. They are layout here like a comic book would be. I'm overall quite proud of my final 6 images. However, in the last image there is a goat slowly disappearing, which isn't very clear at all.
